The New York Giants made a series of roster moves ahead of their regular-season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles, to be played Sunday at MetLife Stadium. The Giants placed safety Jason Pinnock (foot) on injured reserve. Pinnock, who had already been declared out of the game on Friday, was injured in the first quarter of last week’s loss against the Rams. Dane Belton is expected to get the start in his place. The team also signed quarterback Jacon Eason and tight end Tyree Jackson from their practice squad to the 53-man roster. Eason, who was signed to the practice squad this week, provides depth given that Tyrod Taylor has been dealing with a back ailment that, while landing him on this week’s injury report, didn’t land him an injury designation.
Jackson gives the Giants additional depth at tight end after the team placed Lawerence Cager on injured reserve last week. New York also elevated offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste and kicker Mason Crosby from the practice squad. Cajuste will provide backup depth after the team lost Tyre Phillips last week to a season-ending torn quad tendon for which he had surgery on Tuesday. CAjuste is expected to back up both Andrew Thomas at left tackle and Matt PEart at right tackle. As he has done the last two weeks since being signed to the practice squad, Crosby will handle the place-kicking
The Giants and every other NFL team not headed to the postseason will be able to sign additional players from their practice squad to reserve/futures contracts starting Monday, the day after their regular season ends. Look for the team to try to sign as many of their remaining practice squad players as possible.
