PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers have made two moves to their coaching staff, changing the role of one offensive assistant and hiring an outside candidate.
Per the team’s website, the Steelers have officially changed former quarterbacks coach Mike Sullivan’s role to senior offensive assistant. After hiring Tom Arth as their new QB coach, Pittsburgh will retain Sullivan but have made his role broader as they keep an experienced coach on their staff.
Sullivan had two offensive coordinator interviews outside of the team, meeting with the Las Vegas Raiders and New Orleans Saints, but did not get hired for either job. His relationship with Kenny Pickett should help the young quarterback progress in year three.
Matt Baker has also been named an assistant offensive coach for the Steelers. Baker interviewed several weeks ago and will now work with the offense alongside Sullivan and others. The former NFL quarterback was the Atlanta Falcons special teams assistant last season, working with Pittsburgh’s new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith.
