FRISCO – How “big”? How “bold”? How “all in”?
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’s now-famous “all-in” guarantee is just vague enough to open up all sorts of possibilities. (Including the one that leads us to suspect the statement is more about marketing than about roster-building.
But it has invited smart Cowboys watchers – like you! – to ponder the possibilities.
And our Dallas News colleague Calvin Watkins has done just that, as we write here, via Watkins: “If the Cowboys want to go ‘all in,’ it would mean radical moves to a roster … (It would) mean bold moves in free agency where you worry about the salary cap later … It would also mean drafting a quarterback when you already have one.”
Watkins cites Kansas City drafting quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the first round in 2017 even though former No. 1 overall pick Alex Smith was already on the roster.
Whoa. Are we saying – is the Dallas News saying – that the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys should use a pick in April to draft his replacement?
