I had to throw Chase Young in here just because he’s still such an interesting name. It is pretty evident that the Bears got the better of the Washington duo last year when they traded for Montez Sweat, but Young still has a market in his first official free agency now that his rookie contract is up.
Young’s career has been plagued by injury and, for the most part, he has yet to reach his ceiling. In Chicago, reunited with Sweat, YoungÕ would have a starting spot from the get-go. And, despite the lack of sack production, Young is still a disruptive force when on the field.
According to ESPN’s metrics, Young was 15th in the league, overall, in pass rush win rate at 19 percent. That came even higher than his 49ers teammate Nick Bosa, last year.
The Bears should address the defensive end position in the draft, but if they also go after a free agent, then Young is a name to monitor. Danielle Hunter has been linked to the Bears as of late, but the potential storyline of reuniting Young and Sweat in Chicago would be a fun one.
