Following this week’s 2024 NBA Draft, the league has released its schedule for the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas. The Dallas Mavericks will play in four games between July 14 – 19, including a game facing off against the finals foe Boston Celtics, before any remaining matchups are determined. The schedule is as follows:
If the Mavericks were to be one of the top four teams after these games they will advance to a playoff to determine the champion. Otherwise, they will play in a final fifth game to wrap up their time in Vegas.
This summer will be an opportunity for the Mavericks’ first round pick from last summer, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, to show improvement with more opportunity on the floor. The long and athletic Prosper, who turns 22 next week, split time between the Mavericks and their G-league affiliate Texas Legends. He appeared in 40 games in his rookie season with little production. His time with the Legends, however, was encouraging — averaging 18.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and two assists in 24 games, all while shooting 42.5-percent from three. Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison recently reported that Prosper has grown three inches since being drafted last summer.
This will also be a first look at the Mavericks’ second round selection this week, French wing Melvin Ajinca. Harrison traded up a few spots with the New York Knicks during Thursday afternoon’s second round to pick Ajinca, who is cousin of former Mavericks center Alexis Ajinca. It was reported Thursday that the 20 year old will likely be a draft-and-stash player, and won’t join the roster in the upcoming season. But it will be worth a watch next month to see the future potential of the newest Maverick.
