The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs will look to extend their home winning streak, which dates back to 2019, against the Auburn Tigers. Georgia is 3-1 entering the Auburn game. Georgia is coming off a 41-34 loss to the Alabama Crimson Tide. Auburn is 2-3, but according to Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is better than their record suggests.
Georgia is favored by over three touchdowns against Auburn, but the Tigers gave Georgia everything it could handle a year ago. Auburn needs to clean some things up, but there’s no doubt that the Tigers have enough talent to keep it competitive with UGA.
Kirby Smart is 8-1 in his career against Auburn and Georgia has won seven straight games against the Tigers dating back to 2017. The 2024 edition of the Georgia-Auburn game will be played at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Oct. 5.
They’ve got a really good football team,” said Smart. “Got a lot of respect for Hugh (Freeze), gone against him for a lot of years. Obviously, the record may not indicate, but the record doesn’t speak for what this team is. But they’ve got a really good football team.”
Auburn is 2-3 and threw four interceptions in their 24-14 loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Tigers significantly outgained Oklahoma in their most recent game, but Auburn threw a costly pick six and missed a pair of field goals. If Auburn has less mistakes, then they can compete with UGA.
Fast. Athletic. Great size,” said Smart. “I mean they were phenomenal players coming out and they both have special attributes in terms of ball skills, playmaking abilities, speed, dynamic receivers, and those guys, you want to catch them while they’re young. You want to catch them when they’re early in the season, not as they’re getting seasoned vets of the SEC. You can see these guys growing up on tape as they make more and more plays.”
Penn State transfer wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith is Auburn’s leading receiver with 17 receptions for 415 receiving yards and six touchdowns.
