The Pittsburgh Steelers were awful on the offensive side of the football during the 2023 NFL season, resulting in the team parting ways with offensive coordinator Matt Canada during the regular season.
Despite parting ways with Canada, the Steelers were never able to turn things around offensively, which is something they would have to address once the NFL offseason got underway.
Heading into the offseason, the team’s first order of business was addressing the quarterback position, with the team simply not getting enough from Kenny Pickett as the starter.
Because Pickett was not the answer for this team under center, Pittsburgh traded him to the Philadelphia Eagles and chose to bring in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields to bolster the position.
Along with upgrading the quarterback position, the Steelers have also brought in one of the most versatile offensive players in NFL history, with the team bringing in Cordarrelle Patterson, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
After three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, Patterson will join the Steelers in an effort to be a game-changer for the team offensively, as he can do almost anything on the football field.
Last year, Patterson played in 14 games for the Falcons, rushing for 181 yards while also catching nine passes for 38 yards and a touchdown.
Clearly, the 2023 campaign was a down year for Patterson, but the offense in Atlanta was a bit of a mess as the team clearly didn’t know how to use him after he had scored 19 total touchdowns and racked up 1,983 all-purpose yards for the Falcons the two previous seasons combined.
