Among Detroit Lions’ players who are entering the final year of their current contract, left tackle Taylor Decker falls down the totem pole a little. But after last season ended, the longest-tenured player on the team made it absolutely clear what his future intentions are.

“I definitely want to end my career here,” Decker told Kyle Meinke of MLive. “I would say ultimately, for me, this is where I want to be. Of course you want money, but for me, I like being here. I love being here. I was able to be a part of climbing out of the trenches of it, and it’s been fun the past year-and-a-half to see the flip side of it. Whatever happens with the contract, I don’t know. There’s been nothing of substance with (negotiations) so far. But ultimately, do I want to be here forever? One-hundred percent. So, we’ll see.”

Among Detroit Lions' players who are entering the final year of their current contract, left tackle Taylor Decker falls down the totem pole a little. But after last season ended, the longest-tenured player on the team made it absolutely clear what his future intentions are.

"I definitely want to end my career here,” Decker told Kyle Meinke of MLive. “I would say ultimately, for me, this is where I want to be. Of course you want money, but for me, I like being here. It's no surprise Decker wants to spend his entire career in Detroit. It's also safe to assume the feeling is mutual. It's just a matter of getting a contract extension done to extend his stay beyond next season. He's carrying a $19.1 million cap hit for this year, which would naturally come down with a contract extension.

Detroit Lions rumors: Taylor Decker on the trade block?

In a mock draft for The 33rd Team this week, Ian Valentino had the Lions going a unique direction: BYU offensive tackle Kingsley Suamataia. It's the explanation for the pick that's more eye-opening though.

"Fit: There's more buzz around the Detroit replacing Taylor Decker's huge $19.1 million cap hit than anticipated, considering his talent.

If Detroit wants to offload Decker this summer, Kingsley Suamataia has to be considered here. Suamataia is much like Decker as a prospect: He gets the job done more often than not and relies on great tools to win."

Where is this supposed "buzz" that says the Lions are considering replacing Decker this offseason? Let alone it being "more....than anticipated." It's not at all anticipated they're looking to move on, so anything would be "more than anticipated."

Valentino is not a reporter or any kind of insider, but The 33rd Team has people who might be plugged in and giving him pertinent information. So there's potential credence to offering that there's "buzz" about the Lions looking to trade Decker.
