Just last offseason, the New York Giants signed Daniel Jones to a big contract extension.
Notably, it didn’t take long before they realized that may have been a mistake.
Jones regressed vastly, and he didn’t seem to be on the same page with HC Brian Daboll.
The offense looked better and smoother when he was on the shelf, and there were always injury concerns about him.
There are reports about the Giants considering getting a new franchise quarterback in the upcoming edition of the NFL Draft.
Needless to say, they would most likely have to trade up to do so, as they’re currently slated to pick at No. 6, and all the top guys might be gone by then.
With that in mind, Pat Leonard of the NY Daily News reported that Drake Maye is the guy for the Giants.
They’re locked in with the UNC product as their guy for the future, and he’d be the only guy they would consider trading up for, and he looks like a good fit for coach Daboll and the kind of offense he likes to run.
Notably, this makes plenty of sense.
For starters, the Washington Commanders are likely to get Jaden Daniels, and they won’t consider trading back because they need a quarterback as well.
The New England Patriots, Arizona Cardinals, and Los Angeles Chargers could be convinced to give up their first-round pick at the right price.
Then again, they’re going to have to make a Godfather-like offer to get their hands on one of their picks.
