Walton is a three-star prospect. He ranks 453rd overall — the 37th ranked safety prospect in the country. Walton is out of Moody, Alabama. He chose Tennessee over Arkansas and Ole Miss. Walton also held offers from Kentucky, Louisville, West Virginia and Missouri, among several others. He was on campus back on April 6th for an unofficial visit, and he commits just two weeks later.
Tennessee offered on September 9th, which was his first SEC offer on the table. Walton visited Knoxville last fall during the Austin Peay, Texas A&M and Georgia matchups. He returned in January for a junior day event.
The 6-1, 185 pound prospect was credited with 39 tackles last year as a junior. Walton was also credited with a staggering 28 pass breakups and a forced fumble on the year. Listed as a safety, Walton could also be a fit in Tennessee’s STAR position.
Following the commitment, Tennessee moves up to No. 14 nationally in the early class of 2025 rankings, per 247Sports.
