A former Wagner College running back is heading to the NFL.
Chris Collier, who spent three seasons on Grymes Hill, went undrafted over the weekend, but signed a UDFA deal with the Baltimore Ravens, according to numerous reports. The Lawrence, N.Y. native saw limited action with the Seahawks before emerging as a breakout star for Division-II Lock Haven last season
The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Collier amassed 334 yards and one touchdown during his time at Wagner. He ran for a school-record 1,393 yards at Lock Haven, piling up 15 touchdowns in 11 contests.
The shifty tailback opened the eyes of scouts at the NFL Combine, where he ran a 4.48 40-yard dash.
A knee injury in high school limited Collier’s recruiting options and he took the long road to the league. Collier attended Nassau Community College before making the jump to Wagner.
He battled concussions and struggled to climb the depth chart on Grymes Hill, but found a home in the D-II ranks last year. Now, he’ll battle for a roster spot in a Baltimore backfield that already features veterans Derrick Henry, Justice Hill, and second-year runner Keaton Mitchell.
