Nick Harris: You’re onto something by seeing that the Cowboys got bigger and more physical coming out of the draft than they were going into it. Yes, a couple of positions were not addressed, but size, physicality and play in the trenches saw a significant uptick. Half of the picks were spent at the line of scrimmage and the other half saw them bring in tough skill players on both sides of the ball. If the Cowboys don’t want a repeat of what happened in San Francisco or Buffalo or at home against Green Bay last year, that’s a solid start.
Patrik: As a matter of fact, there are. First and foremost, you can sign me up for getting Stephon Gilmore back in a Cowboys’ uniform for 2024. From there, let’s continue to look at the defensive tackle position, because I feel there are still some top-shelf options who would do damage for Mike Zimmer and Mike McCarthy. One such name is Calais Campbell aka “The Timeless Wonder”. Campbell continues to play at a high level despite being 37 years old and his production and ability to mentor would be priceless right now. I’d also keep an eye on someone like Linval Joseph, another defensive tackle with a strong resume, but who also has a direct line to Zimmer from their days together in Minnesota. If you bring me at least two of the three names I just mentioned, I’d be a very, very happy man.
