The Detroit Lions are coming off one of the best — if not the best — seasons in franchise history, but that doesn’t mean they’re satisfied.
Dan Campbell and his entire coaching staff know that thy have some unfinished business, and their schedule is quite favorable to do so.
That’s why former NFL star Robert Griffin III believes they could win a Super Bowl as early as this season.
Talking on his podcast, the former NFL QB pointed out the fact that they will only play three games outside all season, with most of their games coming in domes, and that’s a factor that cannot be overlooked.
He thinks that they should make getting home-field advantage in the playoffs a priority for that same reason, which shouldn’t be that hard to do if you consider the fact that they will be favored in 13 out of 18 games next season.
Griffin lauded the Lions’ front office for getting their offensive playmakers paid and locked in for years to come, all while they were also able to retool their defense.
The Lions were two good quarters away from making it to the Super Bowl last season, and they would’ve even stood a chance against the Kansas City Chiefs at that stage, so there’s nothing not to like about this team.
Whether they’ll be able to live up to the expectations remains to be seen, but this isn’t the Lions of old, and they should be a very good team for years to come.
