considering the Ravens saw Jadeveon Clowney walk this free agency to sign with the Carolina Panthers. Campbell isn’t what he was a couple of years into his prime but he provides a boost for Clowney’s replacement.
The Miami product did play for the Ravens between 2020-2022 so it makes sense why sources believe this could be a fit. However, Mike Macdonald isn’t the defensive coordinator for the Ravens anymore since Zach Orr is taking over those duties. The Ravens would know what type of playing they’re getting out of Campbell. He may not be the same but he could still endure a force to collapse the pocket for an offense.
Campbell’s presence would be crucial, especially considering the season Justin Madubuike was having last year. However, imagine the dominance that the Ravens would be getting if they made this pair happen. Madubuike is making pressure his specialty considering he was leading the league in 38 pressures from a 3-tech alignment. He would become stronger if the Ravens decided to add Campbell to the mix if the opposing team were to double-team Madubuike.
However, the free agency hasn’t been working in Campbell’s favor in terms of finding the next team. He was able to finish last season with 6.5 sacks, 56 tackles, including 10 for a loss. These numbers prove that he can still have a lot of consistency at the age of 37. It seems like it was imminent that he was going to sign with a team but it can come at any time.
