Now that the only benchmark standing between now and the season kicking off is training camp later this summer, Bleacher Report’s Matt Holder put together a list of each team’s biggest remaining needs, including the Cowboys adding a veteran offensive tackle
Dallas is currently expected to start first-round pick Tyler Guyton at left tackle,” Holder points out for B/R. “With Chuma Edoga behind the rookie. Relying on a first-year left tackle is a risky proposition for a playoff contender, especially since he’ll be switching from the left side to the right.
“Also, Edoga is a career-long backup, so having another starting option as an insurance policy isn’t a bad idea. Worst case, they bring in a mentor to help guide Guyton along.”
Amid the Cowboys’ meandering offseason, All-Pro veteran tackle Tyron Smith signed a deal, and it would make sense for Dallas to look to add some veteran stability, especially as a possible insurance policy on Guyton being up tot he task of playing at a high level immediately.
