Tennessee stayed hot on the recruiting trail on Tuesday, picking up a commitment from three-star defensive back Tre Poteat. The Wisconsin native is a member of the class of 2025.
According to 247Sports, Poteat ranks as the 545th overall prospect in the class. He’s the 48th ranked cornerback in the class and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Wisconsin. The 6-0, 175 pound prospect plays for Verona Area High School and plans to enroll early this winter.
Poteat is the son of former NFL cornerback Hank Poteat, who played in the league for ten seasons. Hank, a former third-round pick, now coaches cornerbacks at Iowa State.
Poteat joins three-star cornerback Dylan Lewis, three-star cornerback Tyler Redmond and three-star safety Sidney Walton in the secondary of Tennessee’s 2025 class. Poteat is the 15th commitment to this point, bringing Tennessee’s class ranking up to No. 12, per 247Sports.
