A minor league baseball team had a fun request for Tennessee Vols head coach Tony Vitello this week.
The Chattanooga Lookouts sent an invite to Vitello throw out the first pitch at a game next week because of a “familiar face” that’s coming to town.
The familiar face?
That would be former Vols second baseman Christian Moore, who is currently playing for the Rocket City Trash Pandas.
Moore, who was selected by the Los Angeles Angels with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, was promoted to the Trash Pandas after just two games with single-A Inland Empire 66ers.
The former Vol crushed a home run in his first game with the Trash Pandas.
Chattanooga and Rocket City will begin a six game series on August 13. And based on how Moore has performed so far since getting drafted, he likely won’t be in AA for long.
There’s no word yet on if Vitello will take Chattanooga up on their offer, but it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Tennessee head coach make the trip to support his former player.
