The New York Jets enter Saturday night’s preseason finale with Aaron Rodgers on the bench. But also with Davante Adams at their doorstep?
While Rodgers and the starters will sit out the game against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium, the Jets’ front office might be busy still trying to add a significant piece to the roster before the Sept. 8 opener at the San Francisco 49ers.
Most importantly, that addition might be a receiver for Rodgers’ arsenal. In fact, according to a prominent Jets’ insider, the team remain poised to trade for disgruntled Las Vegas Raiders’ star Davante Adams.
“The minute that the Raiders are willing to trade him, I believe he’ll be a Jet,” reporter Connor Hughes said.
Adams would obviously be a huge upgrade to a Jets’ receiving corps that already includes Garrett Wilson and Mike Williams. He played with Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers and produced the best years of his career. He’s recorded four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons and last year had 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns. In 2022 he scored 14 touchdowns.

We can assume Adams would rather be reunited with Rodgers than play for an offense whose quarterback will either be Aiden O’Connell or Gardner Minshew.
