Given the overwhelming success of Netflix docuseries “Sprint,” it makes sense the streaming service would jump at the opportunity to make a Season 2. Debuting on Nov. 13, the second season of “Sprint” will feature plenty of the world’s top track and field stars but with one notable omission: two-time Olympic medalist Sha’Carri Richardson, who was one of the key figures of the first season having a full episode dedicated to her gold-medal victory in the 100m event at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest. Richardson won gold in the 4×100-meter relay and silver in the 100 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
She’s one of the most-recognizable names in the running world today and was one of the stars of Season 1, so her snub from the second season of the popular show has fans scratching their heads. No Sha Carri, are they crazy? — Get stiff or die trying (@born_baddest) August 22, 2024 No sha’carri, won’t be watching everybody outside of Noah is a snooze fest — thatone (@itsme__1999) August 22, 2024 No Sha’Carri? She must have refused to participate cause willingly not having her in this is insane. — Put Ya Hands Up (@therapyhh_) August 22, 2024 No sha’ Carrie is mad business…would have loved to know what happened to the Jamaicans in Paris https://t.co/HeeYRCXmjv — (@_kutwanki5) August 23, 2024 No Sha’carr
August 22, 2024 The first season of “Sprint” generated 2.4 million views in its first week on Netflix and it became the service’s sixth-most watched series globally. One would think if Netflix wanted to capitalize on the show’s popularity it would feature one of the most talked about and Googled stars in the sport. Citius Mag reported it asked Netflix for clarification on why Richardson wasn’t announced for Season 2 of the series but no response was given. Some notable runners who will be featured in the show include 100m gold medalist Noah Lyles, 200m gold medalist Letsile Tebogo, 200m gold medalist Gabby Thomas, 200m silver medalist Kenny Bednarek and 100m gold medalist Julien Alfred, among others.
