Since he did not report, Trent Williams is technically not counted toward the San Francisco 49ers 53-man roster.
According to Josina Anderson, Williams wants to be “paid-paid” like the very important piece that he is. In Anderson’s tweet, her source says, “San Francisco is between a real rock and a hard place because Trent is not playing around. Something may have to give unless you’re allowing for big adjustments next season.”
On Wednesday morning, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said Williams is intent on proving his point that he deserves more guaranteed money and a raise and that he’s expected to make around $20 million this upcoming season.
Garafolo also said that wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk could practice this week despite not having a contract extension, as that was the expectation when a player holds in.
Either way, these reports are more about nothing as the standoffs continue, and we wait for one side to cave as Week 1 approaches. If the Niners played a game tomorrow, Jaylon Moore would start at left tackle and Chris Conley instead of Aiyuk.
