Caitlin Clark has been playing some of her best basketball as a professional since the WNBA returned from the Olympic break. The Indiana Fever are 4-1 in their last five games, and Clark earned her first WNBA Player of the Week honors.
On Friday, they will have another test against Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky. This will be their fourth matchup of the season, with Indiana holding a 2-1 advantage.
Before the match, in a pregame press conference, Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon discussed the Fever’s strong play and described Clark as the leader of the team.
“When you’ve had an opportunity to play [the Fever] and have an opportunity to watch them play, you see that they’re really gelling well together,” Weatherspoon said. “Playing extremely well together, and Caitlin is the head of that snake, and she has that team running and utilizing every bit of everybody’s gift. So they’re playing extremely good basketball.”
The Fever are coming off one of their most impressive wins of the season, taking down the WNBA’s third-place team, the Connecticut Sun. Since the WNBA returned two weeks ago, Indiana has beaten four playoff-contending teams, with their one loss coming on the road against the Minnesota Lynx.
The Sky are facing a situation where, if they lose to the Fever and the Atlanta Dream win on Friday, they will be tied in the standings at 11-20 and for the eighth seed in the playoffs. Chicago does hold the head-to-head advantage over Atlanta with one game remaining this season.
