“I think it is really just the fans. The Iowa fans and now the Indiana fans… Sometimes it is very disrespectful. I think there is a lot of racism when it comes to it and I don’t believe she stands on any of that,” Reese said.
“But when it comes to death threats, like I’m talking about people come down to my address, follow me home, it’s come down to that on multiple occasions.”
Reese said individuals have also posted AI-generated photos of her naked to the internet.
“It sucks to see that and it is really hard that I have to go through that and now seeing other players even having to go through that,” Reese said.
“But like at the end of the day, it is a game that we do both love but there is no hate.”
Both Reese and Clark have set records and put up impressive numbers in their rookie seasons. Their performances have become heavily debated when it comes to the WNBA Rookie of the Year of the race.
“If I am Rookie of the Year, ‘God, thank you.’ If I am not, back to the drawing board and I just want to win,” Reese said. “Getting to the playoffs is something I really want to do so I am looking forward to that and not really thinking about Rookie of the Year.”
