Rafael Nadal won his 91st career title on Saturday, defeating American Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 6-4 in the final of the Mexico Open.
Nadal, who has been struggling with injuries in recent months, was thrilled with the win.
“I’m thrilled to have won here in Mexico,” Nadal said. “It’s a special tournament for me.”
The victory marked Nadal’s first title of the season, and he is now just 4 titles shy of tying Novak Djokovic’s record of 95.
“I’m feeling good about my game,” Nadal said. “I’m looking forward to the rest of the season.
