HISTORIC ACHIEVEMENT IN MLB Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers has carved his name in baseball history by becoming the first player ever to achieve the incredible milestone of 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season. This momentous accomplishment occurred during a thrilling game against the Miami Marlins on September 19, 2024. Ohtani put on a spectacular display, finishing the game with six hits in six at-bats, which included three home runs and two stolen bases, leading the Dodgers to a dominant 20-4 victory. THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THE 50-50 MILESTONE Ohtani’s feat places him in an elite category known as the “50-50 club,” joining only five other players who have reached the 40-40 mark in Major League Baseball’s 154-year history. His record-setting home run-a majestic 391-foot blast-came in the seventh inning off Marlins pitcher Mike Baumann.
