Former Lady Vols basketball star Rickea Jacksonhas earned WNBA All-Rookie honors, the league announced Thursday.
The Los Angeles Sparks forward was joined by Kamilla Cardoso, Caitlin Clark, Leonie Fiebich and Angel Reese. Clark, who starred for the Indiana Fever, was named Rookie of the Year. Jackson ended the regular season as the only rookie averaging more than 10 points while shooting better than 45% from the field.
Congratulations to Rickea, who attacked her rookie season with everything she had,” Sparks general manager Raegan Pebley said in a team release. “She brought her heart and commitment to growth daily, all while bringing joy and a focus on the team. There is no doubt she deserves this recognition and honor.”
Jackson had a sensational rookie season, becoming only the second rookie in franchise history to score more than 500 points. She joined Lady Vols legend Candace Parker, who scored 610 points in 2008. Jackson scored 535 points as a rookie (13.4 per game) and averaged 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists. She shot 45.6% from the field, 34.7% on 3.1 3-point attempts per game, and 80.7% from the free-throw line.
Jackson was also selected to the Associated Press WNBA All-Rookie team.
