Vince Carter has insisted since his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame was announced in the spring that he wants to be honoured primarily as a Raptor.
The other franchises he played for were part of his legacy — they played a role in the honour he’ll officially get Sunday and cannot be discounted — but Toronto and 700-plus games with the Raptors taught him all that he needed to put in a 22-year NBA career.
It brought him unfathomable global fame but, most important, those six-plus seasons as a Raptor let him learn from true greats and started him on his path to the hall.
