LEXINGTON — Vince Marrow said Monday he’ll be back for his 13th season with Kentucky football in 2025.
Marrow, who wears a variety of hats — associate head coach, tight ends coach, recruiting coordinator and NFL liaison — for the Wildcats, has been with the program since coach Mark Stoops‘ debut campaign in 2013. But the day after the team’s season-ending 41-14 loss to Louisville over the weekend, rumors began to circulate that Marrow was considering switching sides in the Governor’s Cup rivalry.
During a Monday morning interview with Matt Jones of Kentucky Sports Radio, however, Marrow confirmed he planned to return for another year with UK, though he did not directly address the speculation that linked him to U of L.
Just before the 2024 season kicked off, UK’s Office of Legal Counsel posted a contract extension for Marrow. The new contract runs through the 2026 season, with the agreement terminating June 30, 2027. Per the terms of Marrow’s contract, he earns $1.3 million annually. Marrow is the second-highest-paid assistant on Stoops’ staff behind defensive coordinator Brad White, who makes $1.7 million.
With Marrow back in the fold, he and the rest of the Wildcats’ coaches will try to get the program heading back in the right direction.
The lopsided loss to Louisville gave Kentucky a 4-8 record this season. UK will not be part of bowl season, marking the first time it failed to land a bid since 2015. The eight-year run of bowl berths was the longest in school history.
