By all accounts, Kentucky football was poor this season. The team finished 4-8 — capping off this lost season with a 41-14 Governor’s Cup loss in Lexington to Louisville.
This was supposed to be a year of hope. Major quarterback recruit Brock Vandegriff was brought in from the Georgia Bulldogs, as fans hoped he would have the same impact that former quarterback Will Levis once did. The team was coming off back-to-back seasons at 7-6 and looking like a strong roster in need of a passer.
Flash forward 6 months, and Vandegriff has been benched. His replacement, true freshman Cutter Boley, underwhelmed in his start against the Cardinals, going 6-of-15 with two interceptions. Gavin Wimsatt, the backup for that game, played well but is clearly not the future of Wildcat football.

The reality of the situation is this: Vandegriff is likely to transfer given that he was benched, Wimsatt will transfer because he won’t start, and Boley clearly isn’t ready to be the starter.
The Wildcats have two three-star quarterbacks in this upcoming recruiting class: Stone Saunders and Brennen Ward. Neither is good enough to play, at least not as true freshmen.
So Kentucky has a quarterback problem. Like most programs in need of a spot starter (a bridge for Boley or one of the freshmen could be ideal), the Wildcats should hit the transfer portal and check out their best options.
Here are five quarterbacks Kentucky should go after:
Miller Moss, USC
2. Kaidon Salter, Liberty
3. Thomas Castellanos, Boston College
