Teriq Mallory, a 6-foot-5 wide receiver from Cheshire Academy in Connecticut, has made a shocking flip from West Virginia to Florida State. This significant recruiting win for the Seminoles comes after Mallory’s official visit to Tallahassee over the weekend.¹

Mallory’s decision to ditch West Virginia for Florida State was likely influenced by the Mountaineers’ recent coaching change. West Virginia fired head coach Neal Brown on Sunday, leaving Mallory uncertain about his future with the program.²

In contrast, Florida State’s coaching staff, led by Mike Norvell, made a strong impression on Mallory during his visit. He praised the Seminoles’ culture, education, and coaching style, stating that it “felt like home”.³ Mallory also expressed his admiration for Norvell, a former wide receiver himself, who knows what it takes to be great.

Mallory’s commitment is a significant boost to Florida State’s 2025 recruiting class, which now ranks 45th nationally.⁴ He joins junior college receiver Jordan Scott as the second wide receiver pledge in the class.

On the field, Mallory is a talented receiver with a strong senior season under his belt. He caught 49 passes for 691 yards and eight touchdowns, showcasing his potential as a dominant receiver.

Mallory’s flip to Florida State is a testament to the Seminoles’ relentless recruiting efforts. Despite a tough 2024 season, Mike Norvell and his staff are working hard to rebuild the program and attract top talent like Mallory.

As for what drew Mallory to Florida State, he mentioned that the Seminoles showed him “so much love” during his official visit. He also appreciated the team’s culture and education, saying it “felt like home” from the moment he stepped on campus.²

Mallory’s stats are impressive, with 49 catches for 691 yards and eight touchdowns in his senior season. He also played on the defensive side of the ball, totaling 20 tackles, one tackle for loss, and one interception.

The 6-foot-5, 190-pound wide receiver is regarded as the No. 1132 overall prospect, the No. 162 WR, and the No. 13 recruit in Connecticut in the 2025 class, according to 247Sports.³
