A Tennessee Vols defender is reportedly expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal.
According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Vols redshirt freshman linebacker Jalen Smith is set to enter the transfer portal.
Smith is a former four-star recruit from Loganville, GA who signed with Tennessee during the 2023 recruiting cycle.
Smith finished the 2024 regular season with 34 total tackles.
The Georgia native saw extensive action in Tennessee’s win against Kentucky in November, totaling nine tackles while playing 34 snaps. Smith was the Vols’ highest graded linebacker (78.3 per Pro Football Focus) in Tennessee’s win against the Wildcats.
Smith is the fourth known Tennessee player so far with plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. He joins running back Khalifa Keith, offensive lineman Vysen Lang, and wide receiver Kaleb Webb.
