The transfer portal opens in just a few days, and Kentucky football is already set to lose a couple of important players in wide receiver Dane Key and defensive lineman Keeshawn Silver. Several other depth players have announced their pending departure as well.
Key is an especially big loss. Over the past three seasons, he has been a go-to receiver for whoever was under center for the Wildcats. His size and hands will make him a sought after player in the portal, and a likely future NFL player.

The gains and losses in the transfer portal are a part of college football now, and Kentucky will certainly add as many players as it loses. They just have to add the right players to fit the system, and who can succeed in Lexington.
On the other side, they are certainly going to lose more players that haven’t made an announcement yet. Here are five current Wildcats who could join Key, Silver, and the rest when the portal opens on December ninth.
Brock Vandagriff came to Kentucky this past offseason with the hopes of showing the form that once made him a five-star recruit. Unfortunately, due to various factors perhaps, it didn’t happen. There’s a good chance that he looks for a new home for one last chance to hit his potential.
Dane Key already announced he was entering the portal, but could the Cats lose Barion Brown as well? There were big expectations for him after showing special talent last year, but he had the lowest output of his career in what was a disappointing year for everyone
Running back Chip Trayanum transferred to Kentucky from Ohio State and was supposed to be the lead ball carrier for the Wildcats. However, injuries kept him off the field, and other backs stepped up. He could move again to find a fresh start.
