Tennessee Vols baseball coach Tony Vitello is just like every other UT fan when it comes to officiating. Vitello joined WNML this week for an interview
My only recommendation is if you are on the sideline, the asking for a flag doesn’t go well if a representative from the SEC office is right behind you,” said Vitello. “She [told] one of the administrators ‘you need to get with that person and tell them not to do that’. And he said ‘that’s our baseball coach, you can go tell him’. Anyway, we struck up a great conversation. And you know, now that I think about it, I mentioned on air yesterday, I sat literally right next to (SEC) commissioner (Greg) Sankey, who’s such a great guy, at the CMAs (awards show). I should’ve apologized to him for that. But I don’t know if that was on his radar. He’s probably the most important guy in college sports, so he probably doesn’t pay attention to little stuff like that.”
We’ve seen plenty of Vitello on the sidelines at Vols football games this season. From catching an errant pass on the sideline to bull rushing UT linebackers coach Mike Ekeler while in front of Tennessee’s bench, there’s no doubt that Vitello is living his best life when he’s in Neyland Stadium.
