LSU football will get one of its biggest names back in 2025. Star linebacker Harold Perkinstook to Instagram to announce his return.
Perkins missed most of 2024 after tearing his ACL while making a tackle in LSU’s win over UCLA.
The linebacker was a preseason all-conference selection and a former five-star recruit.
Perkins burst onto the scene as one of the SEC’s top pass rushers as a true freshman in 2022. In 2023, he moved to more of a traditional linebacker role, where he remained to start 2024.
LSU’s linebacker room was already shaping up to be one of the best in the SEC next year. Now, Perkins’ return gives LSU over 1,500 more snaps of experience. According to PFF, Perkins has 69 pressures, 16 sacks, and 74 stops in his three-year career with the Tigers.
In four games this fall, Perkins totaled four pressures and four stops.
In November, LSU head coach Brian Kelly offered a positive update on Perkins’ ACL recovery. Kelly said Perkins was progressing as expected and that Perkins was spending more time in the building.
LSU toyed with Perkins’ position over the last two years and will look to enter 2025 with a consistent plan for Perkins usage.
