There are really only two phases of the Oklahoma Sooners’ game in 2024 that were good. The defense was elite, and maybe one of the best in the country if the offense didn’t consistently put the defense in bad situations.
And then there was the punt team, which if you ask me, was really one of the few parts of special teams that was great, and that’s mainly because of punter Luke Elzinga, who constantly flipped the field, made huge plays with his boot of a leg, and oh, do I even have to mention he had some of the biggest pass plays of the season, a few different times on fake punt plays?
Elzinga was one of the Sooners’ best players in 2024, and now that hard work is paying off for him.
Elzinga accepts all-star game invite
The Sooners have obviously added Jacob Ulrich in the transfer portal, a punter to replace Elzinga. And, the only reason they needed to replace Elzinga, one of the best punters in the country, was because he was entering the draft.
Now, he is accepting an invite to the Shrine Bowl, which is down in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This is one of those all-star games that helps NFL scouts get a better look at some of these players before the draft.
Ezlinga is sure to shine.
