Emmanuel Pregnon hit the transfer portal after spending the last two seasons at USC.
Pregnon is the No. 1 inside offensive lineman in the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings. On3’s Pete Nakos and Steve Wiltfong reported that the Texas Longhorns are expected to host Pregnon for a visit.
USC is coming off its worst season under head coach Lincoln Riley. The Trojans finished the year at 7-6 after beating Texas A&M 35-31 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
It was the program’s worst season since finishing 4-8 under former head coach Clay Helton in 2021. Lane Kiffin was the last USC head coach to win seven games in a season in 2012.
Pregnon was an unrated prospect in the 2020 class. His college footballjourney started at Wyoming. He did not play in any games for the Cowboys during the 2020 season and redshirted in 2021.
He finally saw playing time in 2022 and made CFN’s Freshman All-Americateam after starting 11 games and allowing two sacks.
After his success in 2022, Pregnon opted to transfer to USC. His impact was felt instantly, as he started 12 of 13 games at left guard during his first season in 2023.
He was a valuable part of USC’s offensive line this season, anchoring the interior and playing every game for the Trojans.
Adding Pregnon would be a massive addition for the Longhorns. Texas has already added former North Carolina defensive lineman Travis Shaw, former Purdue defensive lineman Cole Brevard, former Arkansas edge rusher Brad Spence and former Utah punter Jack Bouwmeester.
Texas’ most significant portal losses include receiver Johntay Cook II, edge rusher Justice Finkley and linebacker Derion Gullette.
Other schools interested in Pregnon include Tennessee, Oregon, Colorado and Ole Miss.
