Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has played 36 games in his college football career but will be hoping that Friday’s matchup with Ohio State is not his last.
Quinn Ewers stats for the Texas Longhorn
When Ewers joined Ohio State four years ago he was one of the highest-rated high school graduates of recent years. He was the No. 1 high school recruit in America in 2021 but took some time to show his best play in college.
A year-long spell in Ohio was followed by a return to his home state of Texas to play for the Longhorns. Now 22, the 6′2″, 210lbs quarterback is not the most physically dominant option available but he boasts real technical qualities.
His throwing arm is a clear strength, allowing him to pass accurately from any platform or arm angle. It gives him greater confidence to throw aggressively, too, looking to play vertically whenever possible and find receivers on penetrating runs. He’s also added greater athleticism during his time in college and is now able to run the ball on occasion.
In the 2024 college football season Ewers has played 12 games for the Longhorns and recorded a total of 2,867 yards. Although his 66.5% completion rate is lower than ideal, he’s still thrown 26 touchdowns and ten interceptions. He will not be a workable candidate for all teams, but Ewers has the ability to prove a handy pickup in the NFL
