The NFL released nominees for the Pepsi Zero Sugar Rookie of the Year on Tuesday. Three former LSU football players are on the list.
Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. are among the six finalists. They join Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Bucky Irving.
Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, quarterbacked the Tigers for two seasons before being selected second overall by the Washington Commanders.
He turned around the struggling organization and helped post 12 wins in the NFC East. Daniels totaled a 69% completion percentage, passing for 3,568 yards and 25 touchdowns. He continued to create with his legs, totaling 891 yards and six scores on the ground.
The New York Giants selected Nabers with the sixth overall pick. The wide receiver hauled in 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. He caught passes from four different quarterbacks as the Giants continue to search for their next franchise gunslinger.
