J.T. Miller addressed the trade rumors linking him to the New York Rangers.

On Saturday night, Sportsnet’s Eliotte Friedman reported that Miller was almost held out of the Vancouver Canucks’ lineup against the Edmonton Oilers because the team was close to trading the veteran forward to the Rangers.

Friedman added that the deal ultimately fell through for whatever reason.

“J.T. Miller I expect is going to play tonight, unless something changes at the last minute,” Friedman reported. “But there was a time in the last 24 hours where J.T. Miller was not going to play. He was going to be held out of the lineup because talks were progressing on a trade, I believe that team to be the New York Rangers.

Now I don’t know exactly what happened but that trade is off right now. … Things had progressed to a certain point where he was definitely not going to play,”

Following Vancouver’s 3-2 victory over the Oilers, Miller was in no mood to divulge into much detail regarding the trade speculation.

Still, he made his commitment to the Canucks abundantly clear while hinting at some trade possibly happening in the near future.

I’m not getting into this,” Miller said.“I’m planning on being a Canuck today, tomorrow. Whatever happens, happens. I’m focused on the next game.”

Friedman did not report why talks between the Rangers and Canucks have stalled or if the potential of a deal is still on the table.

Now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
