The vast majority of 2025 recruits signed during the early signing period but not all of them and the Florida State Seminoles are making a push for Zahir Mathis, one of the best available players in the country.
Mathis is a four-star edge prospect from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Seminoles are putting the full-court press on for him. He officially visited Tallahassee earlier in January and head coach Mike Norvell then visited him at his house.
They are not the only school making a run at him though and will face some stiff competition. He is set to officially visit the Michigan Wolverines and the Maryland Terrapins before he makes his decision.
However, On3’s Steve Wiltfong believes FSU is his leader and said if he was predicting where he was going today, it would be for Florida State. He did add that the upcoming visits give him pause and that Michigan and Maryland both have a shot to land Mathis.
Mathis is the No. 121 overall player and the No. 17 edge in On3’s industry ranking. The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder is also the No. 3 player from Pennsylvania.
