National media outlet makes prediction for Georgia Bulldogs in 2025 that should absolutely scare the rest of college football
247Sports made a prediction this week for the Georgia Bulldogs in 2025 that should scare the living hell out of the rest of college football.
And it’s not because they’re predicting Georgia to be dominant in 2025. Quite the opposite, actually.
247Sports listed Georgia as one of eight teams that they think will take a step back in 2025.
From 247Sports : The 2024 season fell short of Kirby Smart‘s lofty standards at Georgia, but are the Bulldogs poised to take another step back next fall? Quarterback Carson Beck transferred to Miami and presumed 2025 starter Gunner Stockton led the Georgia offense to just 10 points in a Sugar Bowl loss to Notre Dame. The Bulldogs lose top defenders Jalon Walker and Malaki Starks, plus their two leading receivers from 2024 and haven’t added much in the way of transfer portal reinforcements this winter. Georgia will get some breaks with its 2025 schedule, thanks to a weak non-conference slate and home games against three of its four toughest opponents.
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart is notorious for using slights from the media — real or perceived — to motivate his team.
Very rarely over the last five years have many people expressed extreme doubt in the Bulldogs’ ability to come through in big games. But that hasn’t stopped Smart, at various times over the last few years, from sending the message to his team that no one believes in them.
In 2023, the Bulldogs were viewed as the team to beat after winning a national championship the previous season. Smart, however, convinced his team that the national media and the rest of the nation thought Georgia was going to go 7-5.
So yeah, the prediction that Georgia is going to “take a step back” in 2025 should definitely put the rest of the sport on notice. There’s no doubt that Smart is eager to bounce back in 2025 after failing to reach the final four of the College Football Playoff in 2024.
And this prediction from 247Sports will serve as fuel Smart and the Bulldogs this offseason as they look to make a statement in the fall. The rest of the sport better not take Georgia lightly in 2025.
