The Miami Hurricanes saw their dreams for their first-ever ACC title go up in smoke against Syracuse 42-38 to end the 2024 regular season and ultimately their playoff hopes as well.
Miami’s path to take their season one step further in 2025 got a little bit rocker on Monday night, thanks to the ACC itself.
The ACC released the full schedule for all teams, and Miami’s has a couple of noteworthy obstacles in their conference slate that could prove particularly challenging. And one of them is flat-out ridiculous.
The 2025 season will provide two bye weeks again for teams, and unfortunately for Miami, the ACC stacked both of Miami’s bye weeks in a three-week period. Miami will be on a bye on September 27, will play at Florida State on October 4, and will then immediately have another bye week before a brutal stretch of seven game in seven weeks the rest of the way.
Bye weeks are important, and having them spaced out beyond just a three-week period obviously makes a difference. Instead, the Canes will have to gut it out with no respite through the last month and a half of the season.
And Miami will have a pair of noteworthy road games to finish the season going to Blacksburg and Pittsburgh in late November. As one can imagine, the weather in both places will not exactly be balmy around Thanksgiving. It will surely be a challenging start to the season as well, with Notre Dame and Florida – likely two ranked teams – coming to South Florida in the first four weeks of the season.
However, easy or not, Miami will have to suck it up and find a way to play the hand they’ve been dealt in an important year four for Mario Cristobal.
