The Alabama Crimson Tide disappointed in 2024. That much is certain.
That was especially true on the offensive side of the ball, where despite naming one of the brightest offensive minds in the country as HC, the team and QB Jalen Milroe took a step back.
But now, Kalen DeBoer has his right-hand man back…
Alabama Hires Ryan Grubb As OC
Sources: Alabama is hiring former Seattle Seahawks OC Ryan Grubb as its new offensive coordinator. Grubb reunites with Kalen DeBoer, who he was with at Washington and essentially his entire coaching career. A big hire for the Tide.
We go way back,” HC Kalen DeBoer said of his former OC Ryan Grubb when asked about a potential reunion following Senior Bowl practice last week. “Great friend of mine. Think the world of him as a football coach, obviously as a person too. And so, I know he’s working through his process, just kind of after what last season brought, so just gotta see what he does there and (I’m) here for him whenever he needs me. That’s always going to be the case.”
Grubb and DeBoer went their separate ways following their championship run at the University of Washington. Both received promotions with DeBoer becoming the head coach at Alabama and Grubb taking the offensive coordinator job for the Seattle Seahawks.
But things didn’t go to plan in Seattle as Grubb was fired after just one year in the Pacific Northwest, and he is now seeking a new home as a play-caller and potential helping hand to Kalen DeBoer.
“It’s really as simple as just I felt like the direction our offense was going was different than the vision that I had for our team, and felt like it was just a necessary decision at this point,” Seattle HC Mike Macdonald when asked about not letting Grubb go…
“…Ryan’s a heck of a football coach.”
