Matt LaFleur and the Green Bay Packers will look for any possible way to improve throughout the NFL offseason. After coming up short in the Wild Card round of the playoffs, the team wants to take another step forward in 2025.
In order to do that, the Packers will need to improve their roster. They will also need to get the absolute most out of their coaching staff.
With that in mind, Green Bay has officially made a coaching staff move on Friday afternoon.
According to a report from NFL insider Tom Pelissero, Luke Getsy has officially been hired by Green Bay as a senior offensive assistant. He has had two previous stints with the Packers and was a big part of the success that the team had during those stints. Getsy worked closely with Aaron Rodgers during his previous time with the franchise.
Getsy may not be an addition that takes Green Bay to the next level. However, LaFleur valued him quite a bit while he was with the team in the past.
Giving LaFleur all of the tools possible to have the best coaching staff is important, just like the talent level of the roster is as well.
Now, the Packers will move ahead to the offseason with big goals of winning a Super Bowl next year. They could use a top-tier wide receiver for Jordan Love, some improvements in the defensive secondary, and also more pass rushing.
Thankfully, there are plenty of talented players available in free agency and the NFL Draft to fill all of those holes. Green Bay will have plenty of options to choose from.
All of that being said, it will be interesting to see what the front office ends up doing this offseason. The Packers have more cap space to work with than they have had in recent years and they’re expected to use some of it. Fans should expect a very busy offseason ahead full of rumors and speculation.
Don’t be surprised if Green Bay looks to make a splash. For now, hiring Getsy is a nice addition for the coaching staff and a reunion with a very familiar face.
