After posting a .940 OPS last season that ranked sixth in MLB, Guerrero is willing to bet on himself if Toronto does not present the offer he desires.
Over the last several days, Guerrero has been posting a countdown on his Instagram story that seemingly indicates the remaining days he and Toronto have to reach an agreement.
On Monday, Guerrero concluded his countdown, simply posting a clock emoji.
This message from Guerrero is cryptic, but seems to indicate Toronto is on the clock. As for MLB.com’s Keegan Matheson, he views the deadline as when Guerrero exits his car at Blue Jays camp on Tuesday.
“Today is the final full day for extension negotiations between Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the #BlueJays,” Matheson posted on X. “For timing, I’ll consider the ‘deadline’ when Vladdy gets out of his car and walks into the complex tomorrow morning.”
Will Guerrero and the franchise he made his MLB debut for in 2019 finally reach a longterm agreement? That remains unclear. What is known, is that time is ticking, as seemingly referenced by the right-handed slugger’s Instagram message on Monday. ♦
