In a significant development within the Southeastern Conference (SEC), Jeff Lebby, who previously served as an assistant under Josh Heupel at the University of Central Florida (UCF), has been appointed as the head coach of Mississippi State University’s football program. Lebby’s coaching career includes a tenure as quarterbacks coach under Heupel at UCF in 2018, followed by a promotion to offensive coordinator in 2019. During their collaboration, UCF achieved impressive records, boasting 22 wins over two seasons and averaging over 43 points per game each year. Lebby’s offensive acumen led him to positions at Ole Miss and, more recently, as the offensive coordinator at the University of Oklahoma. His appointment at Mississippi State comes after the university sought a coach with a dynamic offensive strategy, aligning with the legacy of the late Mike Leach. Lebby’s familiarity with the SEC and his proven track record in developing high-scoring offenses make him a fitting choice for the Bulldogs. His connections to both Heupel and the SEC are expected to influence his coaching approach as he prepares to lead Mississippi State in upcoming seasons.
