BATON ROUGE – LSU’s brightest start is set to make her return.
Angel Reese, who helped guide LSU women’s basketball to the NCAA championship in 2023, will return to Baton Rouge and LSU with her WNBA team the Chicago Sky for a preseason contest with the Brazilian National Team on May 2 inside the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Tickets will go on sale at a later date, LSU announced Friday.
The PMAC has seen plenty of iconic moments from Reese, including the infamous shoe block against Arkansas and the TikTok dance celebration she had against Tennessee.
But there’s none more memorable than being one of the catalysts for Kim Mulkey and the Tigers’ run to their first national championship two years ago. Reese averaged 23 points per game with 15.4 rebounds per game en route to LSU winning it all.
Reese collected an NCAA record 34 double-doubles that season and she earned Most Outstanding Player honors during the NCAA Tournament.
I’m very excited the Sky will play a preseason game at LSU,” Reese said in a school release. “It will be amazing to return to Baton Rouge, a community that means so much to me. LSU was instrumental in preparing me for the WNBA and I can’t wait to hit the court in front of both Tigers and Sky fans.”
We are excited to host a WNBA game in May featuring the Chicago Sky and Angel Reese,” Mulkey said. “Angel played a major role in establishing our program at LSU and I know our fans are going to be excited to have her back in the PMAC. She had such a great rookie season and we can’t wait to continue to watch her thrive in the WNBA.”
