Kentucky is expressing interest in a high profile Division II forward
At this point, the transfer portal runs year-round, even during March Madness
The Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball program is already starting its transfer portal recruiting cycle. Several players are being linked to the Wildcats. Coach Mark Pope is well versed in using the portal: He had to build the entire roster that way after his hiring this past year.
Per Jacob Polacheck with Kentucky Sports Radio, the Wildcats have already reached out to Division II transfer Elyjah Freeman. The Liberty Memorial University freshman averaged 19.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game on 57.8/46.3/80.2 shooting splits last season.
I’ve definitely been growing up watching Kentucky play since I was a little kid,” Freeman said. “It’s one of the top schools in the country.”
Freeman is likely the first of many the Wildcats will look into from the transfer portal. The portal opens for players to enter on March 24 and the window ends on April 22.
