Georgia and Oregon are in an intense battle for class of 2026 five-star quarterback Jared Curtis, and the Bulldogs have received some good news as they push hard for a commitment.
Head coach Kirby Smart and Co. have built a longstanding relationship with the Nashville Christian School (Tennessee) product. UGA actually earned a pledge from Curtis before he decommitted in October.
Curtis is rated as the nation’s No. 1 quarterback and the No. 5 player overall in his class, per On3.
After reopening his recruitment for a bit, the Bulldogs did enough to earn a place alongside the Ducks in Curtis’ top two. There is a lot of familiarity between the pair of perennial college football powers, as Oregon head coach Dan Lanning previously served on Smart’s staff in Athens.
Curtis has certainly done some leg work in hopes to make the right decision, as the highly-coveted passer has visited Oregon three times and has been a regular visitor to Georgia.
According to On3’s Steve Wiltfong on Friday, Curtis is slated to attend UGA’s G-Day spring scrimmage game in Sanford Stadium on April 12. That is some good news for Georgia, which puts priority on hosting recruits for the event.
Curtis (6-foot-3.5, 225 pounds) helped lead the Eagles to a Division II-A championship and 10-2 season as a junior. He completed 70.2% of his passes for 2,830 yards with 40 touchdowns to only three interceptions in 2024, per MaxPreps. Curtis racked up another 637 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground.
Curtis will be back at Georgia for an official visit on June 13 after taking an official visit to Oregon on June 6.
The Bulldogs will open the 2025 season at home against Marshall on Aug. 30.
