Teen charged for breaking into Mizzou football stadium, stealing shoes, hoodies, gloves
An 18-year-old was accused of breaking into the Mizzou Football South End Zone facility and trying to sell the stolen items on Facebook Marketplace.
Boone County prosecutors charged Jace McKernan, 18, of Columbia, with First and Second Degree Burglary.
Court documents state that Columbia police officers found several Mizzou sports-related items for sale on Facebook Marketplace.
Items that were being sold included brand new men’s and women’s Nike Air Max 90s, Jordan football gloves, a Wilson football, Mizzou Tiger hats, and a Mizzou hoodie.
Officers contacted the University of Missouri athletic equipment operations department.
The director said the items had been stolen from the facility.
When investigators checked surveillance videos, they said they saw McKernan break into the area ten times between March 2 and March 25, 2025.
They also said McKernan took alcohol, paintings, and other items.
On March 25, officers searched McKernan’s home.
They said they found other stolen items, including lanyards, shoes, alcohol, and paintings.
Officers also said they found a gorilla mask that they believe McKernan used during the thefts.
Documents also state that McKernan painted his face black during the thefts. Officers said that McKernan admitted to painting his face.
