Marianna (Fla.) Blountstown four-star running back Amari Thomas committed to Florida State in January and is a key member of the Seminoles’ 2026 recruiting class.
He remains pledged to FSU, but is planning to get a look at some other schools this summer. Thomas tells On3 that he’s locked in the following official visits: South Carolina(May 30), Kansas State (June 6), Kentucky(June 14) and Florida State (June 20).
Thomas is the No. 340 overall prospect and No. 25 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 50 player in the Sunshine State.
On3 ranks the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder higher than other recruiting services. He checks in as the No. 176 recruit and No. 19 RB in the On300.
Head coach Mike Norvell, new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn and the Noles landed his commitment on Jan. 27 following a visit to Tallahassee. The chance to play under Malzahn and RBs coach David Johnson was pivotal in Thomas’ early pledge.
I feel like it’s right for me,” Thomas told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “It’s close to home. I have support from my hometown, support from my family … I feel like it’s right, not just the football part but the academic part. I think it will be great for me. I want to succeed in helping turn the program around.”
